Office Moves

GENERAL MOVING INFORMATION

PACKING INSTRUCTIONS

  • Shut down all equipment in offices and disconnect power from wall.  This includes, but is not limited to, desktop computers, printers, etc.
  • Take your laptop computer with you, the movers will not relocate laptops.
  • Take home any personal or valuable items. Movers will not move personal items.
  • The moving company will pack your offices for you. If your bookcases are organized in a specific manner and the preference is that they are to be relocated in this precise order, notify your move coordinator so they can coordinate this for you.
  • Any items hung on the walls need to be removed and set aside for the movers to transport.  If you need assistance hanging these in your new office, notify your move coordinator.

STORAGE CABINETS & BOOKCASES

  • Notify your move coordinator with regards to cabinets, bookcases, and/or wall mounted book shelves that need to be moved. Refer to the office furniture, to see what is already provided for you.

OFFICE FURNITURE

  •  The Movers will pack you file cabinets, overhead bins, and bookcases for you.
  •  Desks and task chairs will not be moved, unless there is a pre-existing accommodation with Human Resources.
  •  Personal furniture pieces will not be relocated by the Movers. For example: personal couches, end tables, etc.

COMPUTERS & ELECTRONICS

  • Power down your computer equipment and disconnect from the wall.

MOVER RESTRICTIONS

  • The movers will not move personal items and do not take responsibility for damaged and/or lost personal items.
  • The movers cannot move hazardous, flammable and combustible items.
  • The movers will not move laptop computers.  Ensure you transport these yourself.
  • The movers will not move liquids.  For example: water bottles.

TELEPHONE

  • Old desk phones – leave.  These items stay with your old office.

KEYS

  • Be sure to return your office key to the Lock Shop, in order to receive your new office key.

Day of the Move

The date provided for your scheduled move is the date that the moving company will be onsite to pack and relocate your office. Do not plan on using your old and/or new office space that day.

It is not necessary to be present on the day of your move. The Office of Planning, Design, and Construction Management will be at your existing location coordinating the move and then at your new location, confirming boxes are placed at your new workstation.
